About Me
Hi and welcome to my shop!
My name is Sarah and this is my son Charlie. I am the brains and creator of Sew Many Knots.
When I was trying to decide on a name for my business, I was looking through pictures of other fibre artists creations and I said to my partner "woah, there are so many knots!", I was like "ah ha ,that's it, I'll call it Sew Many Knots. The reason why I use the spelling 'sew' is because they are also my initials (thanks mum and dad 🙂), well that, and I do love a good pun.
I started macrame while I was going through postnatal depression and anxiety after the birth of my son, and not long after the death of someone very close to me. Post natal depression and anxiety is a really hard thing to go through, especially when I had a "good baby", which just made me feel even more guilty about being down. Macrame was, and still is a life saver for me. It doesn't matter what I make or how tight I tie my knots, it always helps.
I have autism, I get over stimulated and suffer from sensory overload for most of my day. Macrame helps by giving my hands and mind something to focus on. I put my noise cancelling headphones on and get lost in the world of rope and knots. I also enjoy doing repetitive tasks and I still get surprised when all my knot tying turns into something beautiful.
I try to be very open about my mental health so thank you for your time in reading this. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via the contact section of this page.
I really do look forward to creating something beautiful for you ❤️
